Professional Automotive Training, 24 weeks
The objective of the Professional Automotive Training program is to train professionals already in the automotive field to pass the A-Series professional ASE certification examinations. The program will cover the the fundamentals of automotive vehicles, both foreign and domestic. Students will gain knowledge in Engine Repair, Automatic Transmissions, Manual Drive Train, Suspension and Steering, Brakes, Electrical, Heat and Air Conditioning and Engine Performance. The ultimate goal of the program when combined with experience in the field is to become a Master ASE Certified automotive technician. Please note that the prefix for the course numbering for these courses is 0, which reflects the fact that these courses are not college level when considering potential transfer of credit.
The program should take about 24 weeks and the total cost including all books and materials is $8,500.00. Successful completion of this program will confer a diploma noting this achievement.
In this course students will learn the basic operating principles of brakes, this course is catered toward students training for professional ASE certification, specifically the A5. Students will learn the operating principles of mechanical and hydraulic brakes, as well as other components. Students will also learn safety procedures and learn how to follow state and federal guidelines, Upon completion of Basic Electrical and Advanced Electrical Brakes training will be complete.
In this course students will learn the basic operating principles suspension systems on a vehicle, this course is catered toward students training for professional ASE certification, specifically the A4. Students will learn the operating principles of mechanical and power steering systems, as well as other components. Students will also learn safety procedures and learn how to follow state and federal guidelines. Upon completion of Basic Electrical and Advanced Electrical Suspension training will be complete.
In this course students will learn the basic principles of electricity. They will learn shorts, opens and other faults and they will learn how to diagnose faults and problems. They will learn to use a multimeter, test light and other electrical equipment, they will learn to test starters and batteries.
In this course students will learn the basic operating principles of the engine, this course is catered toward students training for professional ASE certification, specifically A1. They will learn the procedures for diagnosing mechanical engine problems, the underlying causes of engine problems and the methods for repairing them. The class will disassemble and reassemble a complete running engine. Students will learn shop procedures, safety procedures, diagnostics skills, and how to measure and inspect an engine.
In this course students will learn how the electrical system operates, they will learn to inspect, diagnose and repair electrical systems, they will learn to read wiring diagrams and learn the fundamentals of air conditioning. This course, along with the Basic Electrical course, focuses on training for professional ASE certification, specifically A6 and A7.
In this course students will understand the inner workings of manual driveline components, specifically manual transmissions and transaxles, differentials and transfer cases. Training will focus on disassembly, diagnosis and reassembly. This course is designed to prepare students for professional ASE certification, specifically A3.
In this course students will learn the operational characteristics of the ignition system. Along with Engine Performance Fuel Systems this class is aimed at Engine Repair, A1, and Engine Performance, A8, professional ASE certification. Students will learn how to diagnose and repair ignition systems.
In this course students will learn to diagnose, overhaul, remove and replace an automatic transmission or transaxle. It will also touch on transmission and valve body electrical as well as flow charts. This course is designed to prepare students for professional ASE certification, specifically A2.
In this course students will learn the operational characteristics of the fuel system. Along with Engine Performance Ignition Systems this class is aimed at Engine Repair, A1, and Engine Performance, A8, professional ASE certification. Students will learn how to diagnose and repair the fuel system.
This course focuses on the diagnosis and repair of light vehicle diesel engines and the diesel fuel system. This course is designed to prepare students for professional ASE certification, specifically the A9 examination.
