The ASE training course takes approximately 24 weeks to complete full time. The next start is going to be a day class on July 8th. The following night class begins on September 9th.
Total cost for the program including tuition, books and other ancillary fees is estimated at $8,000.00. Students completing the course should be ready to take their ASE certification examinations. They will be offered additional tutoring if needed for up to 2 years after completion. Low payment financing available for those who qualify.
The course is being taught by a Multi Master ASE Certified Instructor with over 25 years experience in the Automotive Industry and 49 ASE’s. It will be taught to the highest standards possible with a heavy focus on hands-on training. There will be a maximum of 15 students per class in order to provide each student the best learning experience possible. Individual lesson plans are available for your review upon request.
Courses include:
Automotive Service and Repair (ASR)
In this course students will learn basic operating principles of a vehicle. Students will learn the operating principles of brakes, suspension & steering and other components, the students will learn safety procedures and learn how to follow state and federal guide lines. Students will learn how to safely lift and work on a vehicle’s basic systems and follow manufacturers’ procedures and ASE guidelines. They will learn to take ASE style testing. 120 class hours, up to 43.2 homework hours. The goal of the program is to prepare students for ASE certification examinations.
Engine Repair
In this course students will learn the basic operating principles of the engine. They will learn the procedures for diagnosing engine problems, the underlying causes of engine problems and the methods for repairing them. The class will disassemble a complete running 355 CI, 7.3L diesel or similar engine. The engine will be fully disassembled and inspected, the gaskets and seals will be replaced, the engine will be fully assembled according to ASE guidelines and the engine will be run and tested. Engine Performance 1
In this course students will learn the operational characteristics of the fuel system. Students will learn how to diagnose and repair the fuel system. They will learn to follow manufacturers’ procedures and ASE guidelines. They will learn to take ASE style testing. They will learn to practice safe procedures and to abide by state and federal laws. 60 class hours, up to 24.2 homework hours.
Engine Performance 2
In this course students will learn the operation of ignition systems, they will learn how to diagnose ignition systems and perform ignition maintenance and repair. They will learn the operation of emission systems, turbo chargers, blowers and performance systems. They will learn to follow manufacturers’ procedures and ASE guide lines. They will learn to take ASE style testing. They will learn to practice safe procedures and to abide by state and federal laws. 60 class hours, up to 24.2 homework hours
Basic Electrical
In this course students will learn the basic principles of electricity. They will learn shorts, opens and other faults, they will learn how to diagnose faults and problems. They will learn to use a multimeter, test light and other electrical equipment. They will learn to follow manufacturers’ procedures and ASE guidelines. They will learn to take ASE style testing. They will learn to practice safe procedures and to abide by state and federal laws. 60 class hours, up to 24.2 homework hours.
Electrical Systems 2
In this course students will learn how the electrical system operates, they will learn to inspect, diagnose and repair electrical systems, they will learn to read wiring diagrams and learn the fundamentals of heat and air conditioning. They will learn to follow manufacturers’ procedures and ASE guidelines. They will learn to take ASE style testing. They will learn to practice safe procedures and to abide by state and federal laws. 60 class hours, up to 24.2 homework hours.
Automatic Transmissions
In this course students will be expected to learn to diagnose, overhaul, remove and replace an automatic transmission or trans-axle. They will learn to follow manufacturers’ procedures and ASE guidelines. They will learn to take ASE style testing. They will learn to practice safe procedures and to abide by state and federal laws. 60 class hours, up to 24.2 homework hours.
Manual Drive Train
In this course students will understand the inner workings of manual drive line components, they will understand the clutch system and be able to RR a manual transmission with confidence. They will learn to follow manufacturers’ procedures and ASE guidelines. They will learn to take ASE style testing. They will learn to practice safe procedures and to abide by state and federal laws. 60 class hours, up to 24.2 homework hours.
Career Development
Students will be trained to take ASE certification type tests, they will learn to follow manufacturers’ procedures and ASE guidelines. They will learn to practice safe procedures and to abide by state and federal laws. In addition they will be expected to prepare for and schedule interviews in order to work in the automotive field. Part of this preparation includes writing resumes, practicing interviews and applying for positions. 40 class hours, up to 14.4 homework hours.
ASE Compensation Policy:
If the student achieves 100% attendance in 3 classes in a row, including the subject they want to take a test in, scores 90% or over 90% on final exams, and turns in 90% of the homework and required documents, then at the completion of the program the school will pay for registration of the ASE exams for the classes for which these standards have been met.
Attendance requirements:
Having 3 or more days of unexcused absences in a class will result in an automatic failure of that class. Excused absences will only granted in the event of verifiable, documented medical or family emergency, or jury duty. Class work must be made up in order to receive a passing grade. It is important to note that this course is very intense and no tasks should be missed. Any tasks missed must be made up. A single (1) prearranged excused absence may be scheduled at least 1 week in advance during the term.
Dress code:
Students will be required to wear dark slacks in good repair and of proper size. No loose clothing allowed, no shorts. Shoes must be appropriate for working in a shop and must be in good repair and have anti slip oil resistant soles. For hats only ball caps of dark colors are allowed. No words other than shop names, school logo or name are allowed on the exterior of any clothing. Tucking in shirts is required for safety as well as training. Shirts must be button down and a dark color, blue or black. Long hair must be tied.
Teaching strategies:
A variety of teaching methods will be used including, but not limited to, power points, videos, lecture, hands on projects, classroom exercises, puzzles, learning games, competitions, demonstrations, discussion, simulations and writing assignments.
Make up work:
All make up work must be completed before the final exam for the class. If discussed in a civil manner some exceptions may be made on a case by case basis by the instructor based on prior track record and grades for up to 3 days after final exam.
Grades will be available for review 4 days after completion of ASE student testing and during the ASE student testing window. Pretest results and homework will be a strong assessment tool, as well as lab sheets. It is the student’s responsibility to place these materials in their file every day when completed.
90-100% = A
80-89% = B
70-79% = C
60-69% = D
59 or below = F
Students earning a grade D or above is considered passing
Instructor Availability:
This course will require a great deal of personal effort but if there is a problem please speak with the instructor and ask for assistance. If necessary tutoring is available – please do not let anything escalate. The instructor will let you fail if you want to, but if you put forth the effort and truly give it 100% the instructor will return the same, 7 days per week if necessary.
Fighting, anger and hostility is all unacceptable:
All state and federal laws pertaining to discrimination, harassment or otherwise must be obeyed. Any breach of any law may be grounds for disciplinary action, suspension or dismissal This includes driving laws within 1/4 mile of the entrance or exit of the school. If there is a problem step away, do not let it escalate. Part of being a responsible student and adult is to get along with others.
Shop and classroom general rules:
No tools or equipment owned by the school or employees is to be removed from the school without the written consent of the school.
No oil or hazardous materials shall be left at the school by anyone for any reason, all hazardous chemicals shall be disposed of in accordance with local and federal laws.
No equipment or property shall be vandalized or destroyed.
The school accepts no responsibility for student vehicles, for any reason. Students are expected to comply with all OSHA rules and regulations. Safety glasses and other safety equipment must be worn while in the lab area, whether or not work is actively being performed.
No classroom materials, books, papers, pens, water, coffee, gloves, soap, chemicals or fluids, other than what is used in class, shall be removed from the premises.
Students are expected to clean up after themselves.
All our classes are to prepare students to pass there ASE certification examinations or are for fun or for continuing education. The students have to pass the certification examination through ASE in order to get there certification. We do not guarantee students will pass nor do we offer any kind of certificate for completion of the program. The students will have to meet ASE’S Experience guidelines in order to become ASE certified. We teach you what you need to pass the examination. Its up to you to put in the time and effort to pass. About 85% of our students pass there ASE professional certification examinations.
